FiberLoop II at Work

The FiberLoop II system uses two fibers, preferably in a loop configuration. A Model 561 transceiver is configured by the user as the system controller. At this system "head end" are connected the SCADA master computers. If a SCADA master needs to be at another location, then serial port jumpers are installed to bridge two virtual channels to remotely locate that master.

A Model 561 transceiver can be placed in the system as standby controllers connected in parallel to the SCADA master computer (or standby computer) and can take
over FiberLoop II operation if the primary controller fails.

As many as 249 more Model 561 transceivers can be added to the system and at each one, up to 4, 8 or 16 RTUs or other IEDs may be connected (32 devices may be multi-dropped on the optional RS-485 port).
