Model 900B Edge Profile Comparator

The Model 900B Edge Profile Comparator is a precision instrument used for inspecting the leading and trailing edges of aircraft turbine engines. The unit contains an optical module that employs a solid state video camera and an infrared light source for illuminating the blade edge. The blade edge is magnified 20x or 40x, dependent on the option purchased.

The Model 900B is compatible with inspection of a range of turbine engine blades including:

General Electric CF6-6, CF6-50, CF6-80, CF34, CFM-56, GE90, J79, and TF39 (USAF C5-A)
Pratt & Whitney PW4000, PW4056, PW4060, PW4084, JT3D, JT8D, JT8D-200, JT9D, and J52 series
Rolls Royce Trent 800, RB211, and TF41
International Aero Engines V2500
Smaller engines such as GE CF700, CT7, CFE738, P&W 100, and PT6A

The 900B Edge Profile Comparator is listed in the General Electric shop manual as recommended equipment for inspection of the CFM-56 engine.
